The Grand Tower is more than just a new Usher speaker. As their newest flagship model, the Grand Tower represents the culmination of nearly 40 years of audio expertise, bringing together Usher’s most famous and award-winning technology and some extra features into a beautiful listening experience.

Hidden beneath the elegant lines of the Grand Towers are some of the thickest, stiffest, most advanced speakers Usher has ever built. The drivers can only do their job if the mechanical vibration of the speakers is minimised, and we are delighted to be able to achieve this in the Grand Tower.

One of the defining features is that each speaker has 3 separate resonant boxes, which means that the thickness of the cabinets is doubled where they meet, and they are separated by special damping pads so as not to affect and interfere with the other drivers. Like the rest of the Dancer series, the Grand Tower’s speakers feature our proprietary layered wooden box construction with a special damping design that effectively creates multiple shaped layers that dramatically reduce speaker resonance. With an average thickness of over 50mm supporting the subwoofer, the MTM array maintains the same thickness but adds an incredible 120mm thick beautifully lined front baffle! Solid brass pegs hold the large speaker to the floor while keeping vibrations from being transmitted to or from the floor.

It takes years of patience, practice, and expertise to learn how to cut and polish the perfect diamond, as does Usher’s proprietary Diamond DMD tweeter. This is one of the fastest and most accurate tweeters in the world, but unlike other Diamond tweeters, it is very stable, durable, and lightweight.

Located in the center of the Grand Tower are two Usher 8948A 7″ mid-range systems independently developed by Usher in an MTM (Mid-Tweeter-Mid) configuration. The incredible speed, precision, and musicality of these mid-ranges allows Usher to work seamlessly with the ultra-high resolution of our Diamond DMD tweeters and the speed, power and texture of their dual Nomex-Kevlar woofers.

The Grand Tower bass module uses the same 11′ Nomex-Kevlar drivers as the BE-20. However, the use of physically isolated, separate enclosures allows each driver to produce a larger soundstage and deliver deeper, richer bass, completely free from mechanical vibrations and crosstalk.

The core design philosophy of all Usher audio speakers is to let the drivers demonstrate, which means a simpler crossover design, but only using fewer premium components, fewer crossover components to represent each driver to get the clearest signal. With drivers designed and manufactured in-house, it is possible to ensure that each driver is a perfect match to each other, and the tones reproduce exactly how they sounded when recorded, rather than beautifying them.
