However, the large size of Usher’s top speakers is not suitable for all audiophiles. Therefore, we decided to challenge the smaller size and develop small, high-performance speakers. The SD-500 is Usher’s application of DMD tweeters.

The core of SD-500’s high performance is the well-known DMD “Diamond Diaphragm” tweeter developed by Usher. Due to its rigidity and excellent thermal conductivity, diamond has always been regarded as the most excellent single diaphragm material option. In order to overcome the quality problem of the diamond diaphragm, Usher adopts a three-layer composite structure of “diamond-metal-diamond” in the production of the 1.25″ diameter diaphragm to achieve the best rigidity, the lightest weight and the most ideal internal loss characteristics, resulting in the best-performing tweeter on the market.

In order to match the performance of the DMD tweeter, Usher specially developed a new high-performance 5.5″ mid-bass unit with a weight of 4.6 lbs for SD-500 to mesh with the sound range of the DMD tweeter. The new 0538 monomer used by SD-500 uses paper fiber and glass fiber composite material cone, which has excellent rigidity and moderate quality, taking into account the speed and response required by the DMD tweeter, but at the same time has excellent Mid/low frequency and dynamic performance.

In order to achieve the best low-frequency range performance under the limited size, SD-500 adopts a strong 1″ baffle and 0.75″ thickness cabinet structure and sophisticated bass reflex design, both with low frequency extension. and efficiency. Due to the excellent performance of the 1.25″ DMD unit, the crossover point is set at a lower 2.1kHz, which enables the mid-bass unit to work in a frequency range with better performance, and is matched with air-core inductors and high-quality capacitors. network, and high-quality oxygen-free copper wires to achieve the best sound quality performance. In addition to achieving the best low-frequency performance of small-volume speakers under the limitation of physical characteristics, SD-500 is also equipped with independent terminals for high/bass to further develop the sound.

SD-500 has a front baffle with a slight upward angle, which not only makes the high and low frequency units have a better connection in phase, but also has a beautiful effect. In order to integrate into different use environments, SD-500 has four appearances to choose from: including walnut wood grain, pearl red, piano black, and pearl white appearance. Although the SD-500 is the smallest model of Usher using the DMD diamond diaphragm tweeter, it is the crystallization of USHER’s accumulated experience in developing drivers and speakers over the years. Even if the price multiples of the internationally renowned brand bookshelf speakers are higher than that of the SD-500, it is difficult to find the same level of monomers, and the performance and sound quality that can be compared with the SD-500.
